| The group changed for the second time in 1971. Alfred Milton Bowden, A.k.a.; Punkin left the group and was replaced by Darryl Cannady. In 1972 the group signed with Curtis Mayfield on his record label, Curtom Records distributed by Buddah Records. Wally Cox, a close friend of Marvin Gaye, saw the group perform. He told Curtis about the group. Curtis sent Marv Stewart, his partner, to see the group. Marv liked what he heard and told Curtis about the group. Curtis was scheduled to perform in Stockton, CA. Wally Cox booked the Natural Four as the opening act for Curtis. The show was a wash out, but the Natural Four performed beautifully. They sang the song "Eddie You Shouldve Known Better". Curtis signed them to a contract the next day. Within six weeks they were in Chicago recording "Eddie You Should Have Known Better". Ironically the song never made it to the album Natural Four. | |
